Relive the era of memorable music and murderous Mafiosi!

STARRING

BLAKE BOWDEN (South Pacific) & PHIL SCOTT (Wharf Revue)

In the 1950s Mario Lanza was a tenor superstar in Hollywood, his records topped the charts and everyone fell for his charm and beautiful voice. Ten years later, he was all washed up, dying mysteriously at the age of 38. What happened?

Mario is part opera and part music theatre and thus encompasses a broad range of musical styles. Highlights include Your Tiny Hand is Frozen, Nessun Dorma, Caro Mio Ben and The Loveliest Night of the Year.

Blake Bowden (South Pacific) sings up a storm as the stormy Lanza, while writer/satirist/ pianist and Adelaide Cabaret Festival regular Phil Scott fills in the gaps, playing various characters in the singer's life.

THE CRITICS SAID...

"Take a tenor with a voice so glorious it will make your heart bleed; take a musician whose creative ability with words and music is matched only by his piano artistry and what you have is Mario - conceived and performed by Phil Scott and Blake Bowden." - STAGE NOISE

“Blake Bowden, who plays Mario Lanza, has one of the most amazing voices of this year’s Adelaide Cabaret Festival. His tone and musicality are engaging and endearing, and it appears effortless as he manoeuvres between the intensely operatic Nessun Dorma and the classic We’ll Meet Again. ”
